We have all heard of JOE THE PLUMBER, but your STIMULAS PACKAGE does not seem to include HOME BUILDING and SAM THE SHEETROCKER or everyone who comes before him, and everyone who comes after him!

Here is the story of the forgotten many:

First, a SELLER hires a REALTOR to market his land to a DEVELOPER.

Then comes a BUYER with his REALTOR who writes a contract, and they engage a SURVEYOR for the accuracy of the land.

Then comes the MORTGAGE BROKER or BANKER.

Off to the TITLE COMPANY goes the contract, where CLOSERS, SECRETARIES and LAWYERS are all working together to prepare for closing.

Then all the rest are affected with DEVELOPMENT and HOME BUILDING:

DEMOLITION
TESTING LABORATORIES for soil conditions
ENGINEERS to design the subdivision
PERMIT PERSONNEL
SURVEYOR to lay out the streets
EXCAVATING CONTRACTORS
UTILITY CONTRACTORS
PAVING CONTRACTORS
TEMPORARY FENCING

Now it is time for the HOME BUILDER to begin, so the

SURVEYOR is back
PLUMBER is back for the rough in
STEEL SUPPLIER
CONCRETE SUPPLIER
TRANSPORTATION WORKERS.

And, we are about ready to start construction of the residence, so soon SAM THE SHEETROCKER will have a job, but not until

The SURVEYOR lays out the house from the plans the ARCHITECT or DESIGNER has created for the HOME BUILDER.

Here comes the CONCRETE COMPANY to lay out the form boards so the PLUMBER (not JOE THE PLUMBER) can start with the rough plumbing and the CONCRETE COMPANY can pour the foundation.

Next comes the

LUMBER SUPPLIER
FRAMER
ROOFER
WINDOW SUPPLIER
ELECTRICIAN
ALARM COMPANY
SOUND SYSTEM
BRICK LAYER

and finally SAM THE SHEETROCKER

And many of those who followed SAM THE SHEETROCKER, the individuals and suppliers are still out of work because homebuilding has come to a halt!

The list continues:

The TAPE AND BED CONTRACTOR
The CABINET MAKER
The FINISH CARPENTER
The TILE INSTALLER
The PLUMBER AGAIN (not JOE)
The GARAGE DOOR INSTALLER
The PAINTER
The INTERIOR DESIGNER
The DOOR and HARDWARE COMPANIES
The PLUMBING FIXTURES
The KITCHEN APPLIANCES
The LIGHTING FIXTURES
The HVAC SYSTEMS
The LANDSCAPE INSTALLER
The FINISHED FENCE
Maybe a POOL CONTRACTOR

And, then comes another REALTOR, INSPECTOR, APPRAISER, SURVEYOR and LENDER.

And, many more too numerous to mention.

Where is our STIMULUS????

Where is our BAILOUT????

Where is our FUTURE????
