You are so right about DISD and
how they use their tax money.
On what "education"
can the City of Dallas spend $31M
from operating budget?
Capital is facility improvement in most budgets,
on what education facility does the City have
to spend $12m?
This is fancy
language to make Mayor Leppert's education
promise come true. The money probably is
for libraries! They are in the education business.
I worked for thirteen years with City staff on transferring
Health and Human services to Dallas County.
Each year a new City Manager would
bring this subject up. The Commission on
Productivity and Innovation had it on their agenda,
and we went nowhere.
First: City of Dallas does not want pay
the County for their residents. All other cities
in Dallas County pay a certain amount each year for service.
Second: The city's Human Service
Department is a feel good department with its
own citizen committee.
The city council members appoint these
boards and committees.
Again, we have gotten into a position
in this City that everything has a reason for being done other than
the PEOPLE.
The DMN says the City
Manager's proposed tax increase is 3%.
Down into the story is the 7.7% water increase
